A RESOLUTION
Honoring St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
on its Centennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to 2
St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on the memorable occasion of its 3
One Hundredth Anniversary, April 23, 2023; and 4
WHEREAS, In 1923, a group of people gathered in the East side of 5
Lorain to worship under the Reverend Isodor Rafferty, and for the past 6
one hundred years, this dynamic house of worship has served as a 7
tremendous source of spiritual inspiration for its parishioners. 8
Indeed, it has encouraged countless individuals to pursue lives of 9
worship, service, learning, and fellowship Christianity; and 10
WHEREAS, This auspicious celebration offers the members of St. 11
Anthony of Padua Catholic Church the opportunity to share their 12
memories and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit 13
community. Under the guidance of the Reverend Edward Smith, as well as 14
his predecessors, the parishioners have expanded on the best 15
traditions of the past to ensure a benevolent and prosperous future, 16
and they can be proud of the remarkable examples they have set through 17
their values and principles; and 18
WHEREAS, The members of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church have 19
stood strong in the face of numerous challenges, and they have had a 20
positive impact on the lives of many local residents. Indeed, this 21
important milestone represents their dedication and commitment to keep 22
the faith alive in the Lorain community as well as the whole of 23
Central Ohio, and all those associated with this beacon of society are 24
deserving of high praise; therefore be it 25

As Adopted by the House
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 27
applaud St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on its One Hundredth 28
Anniversary and offer best wishes as it upholds its rich legacy of 29
faith and fellowship in the years to come; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to St. Anthony of Padua 32
Catholic Church. 33
