                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring Scotty Buff on securing a 2023 Division I State
              Swimming Championship.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to commend Scotty Buff as the 2023 Division I        2
State Swimming Champion in the 100-yard butterfly; and                   3
     WHEREAS, A senior member of the St. Francis de Sales High School    4
swimming and diving team, Scotty Buff is deserving of recognition for    5
his exemplary accomplishments in his sport. At this year’s Division I    6
State Meet, he won first place in the 100-yard butterfly event with a    7
state and national record time of 44.97 seconds as well as second        8
place in the 100-yard backstroke, and he also helped the 200-yard        9
medley relay team win second place and the 400-yard freestyle relay      10
team win third place. His noteworthy record of personal achievement      11
stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; and                          12
     WHEREAS, Scotty Buff has conscientiously applied himself to the     13
quest for excellence as an athlete, and his exceptional displays of      14
talent and good sportsmanship have gained him the respect of even his    15
most determined rivals. Through his outstanding efforts, he has          16
inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and     17
he has set an example worthy of celebration; and                         18
     WHEREAS, With sports playing such an important part in the          19
development of our young people, we are overjoyed to pay tribute to      20
such an exceptional athlete as Scotty Buff. Indeed, he is certainly      21
deserving of acknowledgement for his tremendous attainments, and we      22
look forward to his future success; therefore be it                      23
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General   24
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Scotty Buff on    25

his remarkable 2022-2023 swim season and salute him as one of Ohio’s       26
finest citizens; and be it further                                         27
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                28
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Scotty Buff.                      29
