                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring the St. Edward High School boys wrestling team on
              securing the 2023 OHSWCA Division I State Dual
              Championship.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the St. Edward High School boys      2
wrestling team on winning the 2023 Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches    3
Association State Dual Championship; and                                 4
     WHEREAS, The St. Edward High School boys wrestling team is          5
comprised of excellent athletes who have collectively worked to          6
highlight the talents of their exceptional squad. The Eagles trained     7
diligently, and by showcasing the stamina and leadership of a standout   8
fleet of athletes, they secured this year’s OHSWCA Division I State      9
Dual title with a 35-21 win over a tough Brecksville-Broadview Heights   10
team, its fourth consecutive state title since 2019; and                 11
     WHEREAS, With the tireless efforts of their exceptionally           12
committed coaching staff, including Head Coach John Heffernan, as well   13
the support of their school community, the athletes who comprise the     14
St. Edward High School boys wrestling team have amply demonstrated       15
their unflagging determination. Their impressive maturity and finesse    16
have gained them widespread respect among all those who followed the     17
team’s progress to the championship; and                                 18
     WHEREAS, This triumph attests to the resolve of these young men,    19
and it signifies the acquisition of valuable experience that is sure     20
to benefit them in later life. Indeed, the members of the St. Edward     21
High School boys wrestling team have met the demands of a rigorous       22
season, and they are certainly deserving of this crown; therefore be     23

     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     25
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the St. Edward      26
High School boys wrestling team on its tremendous showing at the 2023      27
OHSWCA State Dual Championship and praise the wrestlers and coaches as     28
some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further                          29
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the St. Edward High School        31
wrestling team.                                                            32
