                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring Kami Periat as a 2023 Division II State Swimming
              Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly     1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Kami Periat on winning first place    2
in the 100-yard backstroke at the 2023 Division II State Swimming         3
Championship; and                                                         4
     WHEREAS, A junior at Port Clinton High School, Kami Periat has       5
combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good    6
sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional young           7
athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward      8
attaining ultimate proficiency in swimming, and at this year’s            9
Division II State Meet, she placed first in the 100-yard backstroke       10
with a time of 54.32 and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of    11
23.54 as well as helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team place third     12
with a time of 1:38.65 and the 400-yard freestyle relay team place        13
seventh with a time of 3:38.31; and                                       14
     WHEREAS, Kami Periat’s accomplishments and leadership, both in and   15
out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine          16
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her     17
coaches, her school, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to      18
excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is      19
certainly worthy of high praise; and                                      20
     WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role    21
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased      22
to pay tribute to Kami Periat on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same    23
maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in       24
swimming will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the future;    25

As Adopted by the Senate
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Kami Periat on      28
her 2023 Division II State Swimming Championship and extend best           29
wishes for continued success; and be it further                            30
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kami Periat.                      32
