A RESOLUTION
Relative to the election of Elgin Rogers, Jr. to fill the 1
vacancy in the membership of the House of 2
Representatives created by the resignation of Paula 3
Hicks-Hudson of the 44th House District. 4
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF
OHIO:
WHEREAS, Section 11 of Article II of the Ohio Constitution 5
provides for the filling of a vacancy in the membership of the House 6
of Representatives by election by the members of the House of 7
Representatives who are affiliated with the same political party as 8
the person last elected to the seat which has become vacant; and 9
WHEREAS, Paula Hicks-Hudson of the 44th House District, has 10
resigned as a member of the House of Representatives of the 134th 11
General Assembly effective November 16, 2022, thus creating a vacancy 12
in the House of Representatives; therefore be it 13
RESOLVED, By the members of the House of Representatives who are 14
affiliated with the Democrat party that Elgin Rogers, Jr., Democrat, 15
having the qualifications set forth in the Ohio Constitution and the 16
laws of Ohio to be a member of the House of Representatives from the 17
44th House District, is hereby elected, effective November 16, 2022, 18
pursuant to Section 11 of Article II of the Ohio Constitution, as a 19
member of the House of Representatives from the 44th House District, 20
to fill the vacancy created by the unexpired portion of the term of 21
said Paula Hicks-Hudson ending on December 31, 2022; and be it further 22

As Offered
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be spread upon the pages of 23
the Journal of the House of Representatives together with the yeas and 24
nays of the members of the House of Representatives affiliated with the 25
Democrat party voting on the resolution, and that the Clerk of the House 26
of Representatives shall certify the resolution and vote on its adoption 27
to the Secretary of State. 28
