SUMMARY
 Expands authorized uses for county credit card expenditures to include charges for
temporary and necessary assistance care provided by a county veterans service office.
DETAILED ANALYSIS
Credit card use by a county veterans service commission
The bill authorizes the use of a credit card to pay for expenses related to temporary and
necessary assistance care provided by the county veterans service office.1 Continuing law sets
forth permissible uses for a credit card held by any county office. The credit card may be used
only to pay for certain work-related expenses that are enumerated in law.2
Under continuing law, the debt incurred as a result of the use of a county credit card
must be paid from moneys appropriated to specific appropriation line items of the county for
the work-related expenses. Therefore, in the case of credit card purchases for the temporary
and necessary assistance care provided by the county veterans service office, funds
appropriated by the board of county commissioners for the county veterans service office
should be used to pay the portion of the credit card bill attributable to the office.3
