                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring the Hawken School speech and debate team as a
              2021 Ohio Speech and Debate Association State Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to commend the Hawken School speech and debate       2
team on winning the team sweepstakes at the 2021 Ohio Speech and         3
Debate Association State Finals; and                                     4
     WHEREAS, The members of the Hawken School speech and debate team    5
are a dedicated and committed collection of students, and they are       6
richly deserving of recognition for the legacy they are leaving for      7
future Hawken School speech and debate teams by winning this year’s      8
Ohio Speech and Debate Association State Championship team sweepstakes   9
title. These fine individuals have displayed a degree of determination   10
and motivation of which they can be proud; and                           11
     WHEREAS, Speech and debate competition combines the wisdom and      12
leadership of adulthood with the enthusiasm and optimism of youth so     13
that our young people will be better prepared to assume meaningful,      14
rewarding roles in society. It is certainly encouraging to know that     15
the future of Ohio lies, to a large extent, in the capable hands of      16
these conscientious individuals; and                                     17
     WHEREAS, All those associated with the Hawken School speech and     18
debate team warrant the highest praise, for they have demonstrated       19
exceptional diligence and enthusiasm in preparing for the rigors of      20
competition. They have, indeed, set an example of excellence that is     21
worthy of emulation; therefore be it                                     22
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General   23
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Hawken        24

School speech and debate team on its recent achievement and salute the     25
members as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further               26
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                27
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Hawken School speech and      28
debate team.                                                               29
