A RESOLUTION
Honoring Mac McMillan and Sasha Turner as winners at the
2021 Ohio Speech and Debate Association State Finals.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Mac McMillan and 2
Sasha Turner on placing first in the 2-person policy debate category 3
at the 2021 Ohio Speech and Debate Association State Finals; and 4
WHEREAS, Standout members of the Hawken School speech and debate 5
team, Mac McMillan and Sasha Turner have developed their speaking 6
capabilities, and consequently, they won first place in the 2-person 7
policy debate category at this year’s Ohio Speech and Debate 8
Association State Finals. Demonstrating intelligence and motivation in 9
all their endeavors, they have met challenges with enthusiasm and 10
confidence and displayed an exceptional willingness to work hard to 11
produce superior results. Through their remarkable efforts, they have 12
set an example worthy of emulation, and they are certainly deserving 13
of high praise; and 14
WHEREAS, With self-discipline, perseverance, and resolve, Mac 15
McMillan and Sasha Turner have striven to increase their knowledge and 16
skills. Through their decisive leadership, they have distinguished 17
themselves as conscientious and responsible young Ohioans, and we are 18
certain that they will continue to display the same unwavering 19
dedication to excellence for which they have become known; and 20
WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Mac McMillan and Sasha Turner are 21
a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on 22
them but also on their family, their teammates, their coaches, their 23
school, and their community. They have exhibited a sincere desire to 24

do their best in all of their undertakings so that they might fulfill 25
their goals in the future, and this, coupled with their maturity and 26
initiative, shows their potential to become a part of tomorrow’s 27
leaders; therefore be it 28
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General 29
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Mac McMillan 30
and Sasha Turner on their brilliant season and wish them an abundance 31
of future success; and be it further 32
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 33
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Mac McMillan and Sasha 34
Turner. 35
