A RESOLUTION
Honoring Madi Ogden as the 2020-2021 Gatorade Ohio
Softball Player of the Year.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Madi Ogden on being named the 2
2020-2021 Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year; and 3
WHEREAS, A senior member of the Williamsburg High School softball 4
team, Madi Ogden has combined talent and competitive spirit with the 5
highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly 6
exceptional athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked 7
diligently toward achieving ultimate proficiency in softball, and as a 8
pitcher during the 2021 season, she allowed just 41 hits and 15 walks, 9
accumulating an astounding 331 strikeouts in 168.2 innings. At the 10
plate, she posted a .527 batting average with 32 runs batted in, 41 11
runs scored, 6 home runs, a .849 slugging percentage while leading the 12
Lady Wildcats to a 28-1 record and a berth in the Division III 13
Regional Finals; and 14
WHEREAS, Madi Ogden’s accomplishments and leadership, both in and 15
out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine 16
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her 17
coaches, her school, and her hometown. Serving local youth as a math 18
and reading tutor as well as a volunteer softball and basketball 19
coach, she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her 20
high school career, and she has attained the position of valedictorian 21
for her class. Her unwavering commitment to excellence has earned her 22
the prestigious Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year honor, and 23
she is certainly worthy of high praise; and 24
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 25
in the total education of our young people, we are overjoyed to pay 26

tribute to Madi Ogden on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same 27
maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in 28
softball will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the future; 29
therefore be it 30
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General 31
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Madi Ogden on 32
her recent accolade and extend best wishes for continued success; and 33
be it further 34
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 35
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Madi Ogden. 36
