Other Information Radon is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas that forms naturally when
uranium in soil or rock breaks down. Once formed, radon can enter a home
through cracks and other holes in the home’s foundation. As radon decays, it
releases radioactive byproducts that are inhaled and can cause lung cancer.
Homes can be tested for radon and radon mitigation measures can be
installed.1
 This version updates the effective date.
