The Cigarette Fire Safety Standard and Firefighter Protection Fund is a special revenue fund established within the Division of the State Fire Marshal (SFM) for the purpose of supporting fire safety and fire prevention programs. The fund was created through Assembly Bill 229 of the 2009 Legislative Session and authorizes the SFM to develop and enforce regulations concerning the standards for fire-safe cigarettes. All such cigarettes sold in Nevada must be certified by the SFM. The division may expend money in the fund to support fire safety and fire prevention programs.
