This bill requires public schools to include mental and behavioral health issues as valid excuses for student absences. It also requires schools to allow students who are absent due to mental or behavioral health issues to make up missed school work and ensures that their grades will not be adversely affected by these absences. Additionally, students who are absent for mental or behavioral health reasons will be considered present for the purpose of calculating average daily attendance. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
