This bill requires local school boards to develop a policy for responding to parental complaints of obscene material in schools. The policy must include a process for submitting written complaints to the principal, an investigation of the allegations, a determination of whether the material is harmful to minors, and a decision on whether to remove or restrict student access to the material. Appeals of the principal's decisions can be made to the local school board, and further appeals can be made to the state board of education. The bill will take effect 30 days after its passage.
