This bill authorizes counties to establish the position of deputy animal cruelty investigator. It allows the sheriff to appoint a deputy sheriff to be the county animal cruelty investigator, who will be responsible for reporting, investigating, and prosecuting animal cruelty cases within the county. The deputy animal cruelty investigator must complete training approved by the police standards and training council on animal cruelty. This bill aims to support municipalities that do not have their own animal cruelty officers.
