STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Two
AN ACT requiring businesses to use the federal E-Verify system of the United States
Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 1 Employment of Undocumented Workers Prohibited; E-Verify. Amend RSA 275-A:4-a to read
2 as follows:
3 275-A:4-a Employment of Undocumented Workers Prohibited. No employer may employ any
4 employee without verifying employment eligibility through the E-Verify system of the United
5 States Citizenship and Immigration Services and obtaining documentation showing the
6 employee's eligibility to work in the United States. The employer shall maintain such
7 documentation for the period required by federal law. Acceptable documentation of eligibility to
8 work in the United States shall include documents required by federal law or supporting
9 documentation that satisfies the requirement of federal law.
10 2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2023.
