1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to court fees; to amend section 33-156,
2 Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska; to increase the indigent
3 defense fee; and to repeal the original section.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. Section 33-156, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, is
2 amended to read:
3 33-156 (1) In addition to all other court costs assessed according
4 to law, an indigent defense fee of eight three dollars shall be taxed as
5 costs for each case filed in each county court and district court,
6 including appeals to such courts, and for each appeal and original action
7 filed in the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. The fees shall be
8 remitted to the State Treasurer on forms prescribed by the State
9 Treasurer within ten days after the end of the month. The State Treasurer
10 shall credit the fees to the Commission on Public Advocacy Operations
11 Cash Fund.
12 (2) In cases under the DNA Testing Act, costs shall be paid as
13 provided in such act.
14 Sec. 2. Original section 33-156, Reissue Revised Statutes of
15 Nebraska, is repealed.
