1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to appropriations; to state intent regarding
2 appropriations for the repayment of qualified educational debts owed
3 by eligible health professionals under the Rural Health Systems and
4 Professional Incentive Act.
5 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. It is the intent of the Legislature that $3,000,000 of
2 the General Fund appropriation for FY2021-22 and $3,000,000 of the
3 General Fund appropriation for FY2022-23 for Agency 25, Program 175, be
4 used for the repayment of qualified educational debts owed by eligible
5 health professionals as determined pursuant to section 71-5662 under the
6 Rural Health Systems and Professional Incentive Act.
7 It is the intent of the Legislature that there is included in the
8 amount shown as aid for this program for FY2021-22 $750,000 General Funds
9 and for FY2022-23 $750,000 General Funds for the repayment of qualified
10 educational debts owed by eligible health professionals employed by one
11 of the seven community health centers funded through Federal Program 330,
12 Public Law 104-299, the federal Health Centers Consolidation Act of 1996:
13 Charles Drew Health Center, One World Community Health Center, East
14 Central District Health Department - Good Neighbor Community Health
15 Center, Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska, Midtown
16 Community Health Center, Bluestem Health, and Heartland Health Center.
17 Any of such funds unused for such purpose shall be available for the
18 repayment of qualified educational debts owed by eligible health
19 professionals as determined pursuant to section 71-5662 under the Rural
20 Health Systems and Professional Incentive Act.
