1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to redistricting; to provide for venue of
2 legal proceedings challenging laws regarding redistricting; and to
3 provide procedures.
4 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. An action for review of a law that establishes the
2 boundaries of congressional districts, legislative districts, Supreme
3 Court districts, Public Service Commission districts, or State Board of
4 Education districts or the process of establishing the boundaries shall
5 be filed in the district court of Lancaster County or as an original
6 action with the Supreme Court as permitted under Article V, section 2, of
7 the Constitution of Nebraska. If the action is filed in the district
8 court of Lancaster County, the district court shall give the action
9 precedence over all other civil matters. Any appeal from the district
10 court shall be taken to the Supreme Court pursuant to section 24-1106
11 within thirty days after the entry of the judgment and shall in all ways
12 be expedited, set for an early hearing, and advanced as other causes
13 which involve the public welfare are advanced.
