1 A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to cities of the metropolitan class; to
2 require cities of the metropolitan class to annually update their
3 safety standards and operating procedures for road construction and
4 maintenance; to provide requirements for such standards and
5 procedures; and to provide a duty for the Revisor of Statutes.
6 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,

1 Section 1. (1) Beginning January 1, 2020, each city of the
2 metropolitan class shall update its safety standards and operating
3 procedures for road construction and maintenance on an annual basis.
4 (2) Beginning January 1, 2020, the safety standards and operating
5 procedures for road construction and maintenance for a city of the
6 metropolitan class shall include, but not be limited to, provisions
7 governing the number of vehicles and employees needed at a given time to
8 safely complete a project. In order to ensure a high level of safety for
9 employees, the city shall consider, among other factors, traffic flow and
10 traffic volume in the area of the project.
11 Sec. 2. The Revisor of Statutes shall assign section 1 of this act
12 to Chapter 14.
