1 A concurrent resolution directing the Legislative Management to consider studying whether the
2 Fort Berthold Reservation should have stand-alone ambient air quality monitors to track and
3 mitigate air and water pollution that may result from oil and gas development.
4 WHEREAS, the air on the Fort Berthold Reservation may include the presence of volatile
5 organic compounds in both oil- and gas-producing regions and areas not producing oil and gas;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to determine whether volatile organic compounds are
8 found in areas not producing oil and gas; and
9 WHEREAS, the state has a responsibility to obtain a baseline of air quality on the Fort
10 Berthold Reservation by reviewing historical data gathered by the Environmental Protection
11 Agency;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
13 NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
14 That the Legislative Management consider studying whether the Fort Berthold Reservation
15 should have stand-alone ambient air quality monitors to track and mitigate air and water
16 pollution that may result from oil and gas development; and
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislative Management report its findings and
18 recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to
19 the Sixty-ninth Legislative Assembly.
