1 A concurrent resolution directing the Legislative Management to consider studying statutes
2 governing career and technical education, including statutes in North Dakota Century Code
3 Chapter 15-20.1 providing for the powers and duties of the state board of higher education,
4 reciprocity with other states, cooperation with federal agencies, funding, reimbursement to
5 institutions, gifts, reporting requirements, grants for innovation, elementary school
6 entrepreneurship programs, career development certifications, career advisers, accessibility,
7 impacts on students, and programs of study.
8 WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Legislative Assembly to review existing laws to
9 ensure they continue to address the problems they are intended to rectify; and
10 WHEREAS, career and technical education is an important part of this state's educational
11 system and is a key contributor to the economic health of this state; and
12 WHEREAS, career and technical education continues to evolve to meet the needs of
13 students and this state;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
15 NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
16 That the Legislative Management consider studying statutes governing career and technical
17 education, including statutes in North Dakota Century Code Chapter 15-20.1 providing for the
18 powers and duties of the state board of higher education, reciprocity with other states,
19 cooperation with federal agencies, funding, reimbursement to institutions, gifts, reporting
20 requirements, grants for innovation, elementary school entrepreneurship programs, career
21 development certifications, career advisers, accessibility, impacts on students, and programs of
22 study; and
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislative Management report its findings and
24 recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to
25 the Sixty-eighth Legislative Assembly.
