1 A concurrent resolution directing the Legislative Management to consider studying the feasibility
2 and desirability of implementing a hospital discharge database.
3 WHEREAS, North Dakota is one of 48 states that has not developed and used a hospital
4 discharge database; and
5 WHEREAS, hospital discharge databases have the potential to reduce health care costs
6 and improve utilization of services; and
7 WHEREAS, hospital discharge databases are a key source of data for primary and public
8 health surveillance and prevention efforts; and
9 WHEREAS, hospital discharge databases have private sector and commercial applications;
10 and
11 WHEREAS, hospital discharge databases are a data source for planning, community
12 assessment, quality assessment, and performance improvement;
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
14 NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
15 That the Legislative Management consider studying the feasibility and desirability of
16 implementing a hospital discharge database; and
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislative Management report its findings and
18 recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to
19 the Sixty-eighth Legislative Assembly.
