1 A BILL for an Act to amend and reenact subdivision c of subsection 2 of section 39-06-14.1 of
2 the North Dakota Century Code, relating to motorcycle operator's licenses and motorized
3 bicycles.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
5 SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Subdivision c of subsection 2 of section 39-06-14.1 of the
6 North Dakota Century Code is amended and reenacted as follows:
7 c. Applicants fourteen or fifteen years of age may be issued a motorcycle learner's
8 permit if the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an approved motorcycle
9 safety course. Applicants for a motorcycle operator's license who are under
10 sixteen years of age must hold an initial learner's permit for at least two months
11 before applying for a class M operator's license, must have completed an
12 approved motorcycle safety course, and must hold a valid motorcycle learner's
13 permit at the time of application. The director may waive the skill portion of the
14 examination if the applicant has successfully completed a motorcycle safety
15 course approved by the director. Any person under sixteen years of age who
16 holds a permit or license may not operate a motorcycle powered with an engine
17 in excess of twofive hundred fiftyten cubic centimeters displacement. Evidence
18 that the applicant has satisfactorily completed a motorcycle safety course which
19 meets the minimum requirements of the motorcycle safety foundation must
20 accompany the application.
