1 A BILL for an Act to amend and reenact section 43-09-09 of the North Dakota Century Code,
2 relating to regulation of low-voltage electrical systems.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
4 SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Section 43-09-09 of the North Dakota Century Code is
5 amended and reenacted as follows:
6 43-09-09. License required - Examination - Board to issue license - Reporting.
7 Every person, partnership, company, corporation, limited liability company, or association
8 that undertakes or offers
9 1. A person that does not have a valid license issued by the board may not undertake or
10 offer to undertake with another person to plan, lay out, supervise, install, make
11 additions, make alterations, or make repairs, in the installation of wiring, apparatus, or
12 equipment for electric light, heat, fire detection system, or power, shall apply to the
13 board for a license. This licensure requirement does not include the planning, laying
14 out, supervising, installing, making of additions to, making of alternations to, or making
15 of repairs to a low-voltage system, such as an audio system, video system, computer
16 network system, home automation system, or security system, if the low-voltage
17 system is not for electric light, heat, fire detection system, or power.
18 2. The board shall examine thean applicant for licensure and, if, upon a technical and
19 practical examination, the board determines the applicant is found to
20 possesspossesses the required knowledge and skill and to beis versed in the laws of
21 electricity, the applicantboard shall be issuedissue the applicant a license in the class
22 for which the applicant was examined. The board president shall sign the license shall
23 be signed by the president and the secretary of the board and attestedshall attest the
24 license by the seal of the board.

1 3. Each licensee or permitholder shall report that person's licensing or renewals to the
2 electrical inspector, if there is one, in the municipality in which that person operates.
