1 A BILL for an Act to create and enact a new section to chapter 39-04 of the North Dakota
2 Century Code, relating to exempting sports cars from the number plate display requirements.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
4 SECTION 1. A new section to chapter 39-04 of the North Dakota Century Code is created
5 and enacted as follows:
6 Sports car exemption.
7 1. As used in this section, "sports car" means an aerodynamically designed motor
8 vehicle built to seat no more than two individuals which has a retail value exceeding
9 one hundred ten thousand dollars at the time of purchase as determined by the
10 national automobile dealers association official car guide.
11 2. An applicant registering a sports car shall provide the department with documentation
12 establishing the sports car's exemption eligibility under subsection 1.
13 3. Notwithstanding section 39-04-11 and upon proper application, the department shall
14 issue one number plate and a distinctive sticker to an applicant registering a chevrolet
15 corvette or a sports car. The distinctive sticker must be affixed to the number plate and
16 the number plate must be displayed horizontally and in an upright position on the rear
17 of the vehicle.
