2 AN ACT TO ALLOW FEDERAL COURT OFFICIALS TO CARRY CONCEALED
3 WEAPONS IN THE SAME MANNER AS STATE JUDGES.
4 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
5 SECTION 1. G.S. 14-269(b) reads as rewritten:
6 "(b) This prohibition shall not apply to the following persons:
7 …
8 (4d) Any person who is a North Carolina district court judge, North Carolina
9 superior court judge, or a North Carolina magistrate and who has a concealed
10 handgun permit issued in accordance with Article 54B of this Chapter or
11 considered valid under G.S. 14-415.24; provided that the person shall not
12 carry a concealed weapon at any time while consuming alcohol or an unlawful
13 controlled substance or while alcohol or an unlawful controlled substance
14 remains in the person's body. The judge or magistrate shall secure the weapon
15 in a locked compartment when the weapon is not on the person of the judge
16 or magistrate;

19 of Appeals judge, United States district court judge, United States senior
20 judge, United States magistrate judge, United States bankruptcy judge, United
21 States attorney, or United States assistant attorney and who has a concealed

23 considered valid under G.S. 14-415.24; provided that the person shall not

30 SECTION 2. This act becomes effective December 1, 2021, and applies to offenses
