5 EDUCATION AND TRAINING STANDARDS COMMISSION.
6 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
7 SECTION 1. G.S. 17C-3(a) reads as rewritten:
8 "§ 17C-3. North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards
9 Commission established; members; terms; vacancies.
10 (a) There is established the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training
11 Standards Commission, hereinafter called "the Commission." The Commission shall be
12 composed of 34 35 members as follows:

14 (4) At-large Groups. – One individual representing and appointed by each of the
15 following organizations: one mayor selected by the League of Municipalities;
16 one law-enforcement training officer selected by the North Carolina
17 Law-Enforcement Training Officers' Association; one criminal justice
18 professional selected by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Association; one
19 sworn law-enforcement officer selected by the North State Law-Enforcement
20 Officers' Association; one member selected by the North Carolina
21 Law-Enforcement Women's Association; and one District Attorney selected
22 by the North Carolina Association of District Attorneys.Attorneys; and one
23 full-time sworn law-enforcement officer selected by the North Carolina Police
24 Benevolent Association.

26 SECTION 2. As enacted by Section 1 of this act, the initial term of office for the
27 member selected by the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association shall begin on July 1,
28 2021, and shall expire on June 30, 2024. Consistent with G.S. 17C-3(b), subsequent appointees
29 to these positions shall be appointed for a term of three years, but notwithstanding the
30 appointment for a term of three years, the member shall serve at the will of the appointing
31 authority.
