2 AN ACT AMENDING THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAWS TO RAISE THE LIMIT ON
3 MERCHANDISE SALES FOR POLITICAL PARTIES.
4 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
5 SECTION 1. G.S. 163-278.8A(b)(2) reads as rewritten:
6 "(b) Exempt Purchase Price. – A purchase price for goods or services sold by a political
7 party executive committee or affiliated party committee qualifies for the exemption provided in
8 subsection (a) of this section as long as the sale of the goods or services adheres to a plan that the
9 treasurer has submitted to and that has been approved in writing by the Executive Director of the
10 State Board of Elections. The Executive Director shall approve the treasurer's plan upon and only
11 upon finding that all the following requirements are satisfied:

13 (2) That the total amount to be raised from sales under all plans by the committee
14 does not exceed ten twenty thousand dollars ($10,000) ($20,000) per election
15 cycle.

17 SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to election cycles
18 occurring on or after that date.
