2 AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES TO PRODUCE A
3 "TEACHNC" SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATE.
4 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
5 SECTION 1. G.S. 20-63(b1) reads as rewritten:
6 "(b1) The following special registration plates do not have to be a "First in Flight" plate,
7 "First in Freedom" plate, or "National/State Mottos" plate as provided in subsection (b) of this
8 section. The design of the plates that are not "First in Flight" plates, "First in Freedom" plates, or
9 "National/State Mottos" plate must be must have a background design developed in accordance
10 with G.S. 20-79.4(a3). For special plates authorized in G.S. 20-79.7 on or after July 1, 2013, the

21 shall bear a phrase and logo promoting the Department of Public Instruction's
22 TeachNC teacher recruitment initiative.

24 SECTION 3. The Revisor of Statutes is authorized to alphabetize, number, and
25 renumber the special registration plates listed in G.S. 20-63(b1), 20-79.4(b), and 20-81.12 to
26 ensure that all the special registration plates are listed in alphabetical order and numbered
27 accordingly.
28 SECTION 4. The plate authorized by this act is not subject to the requirements to
29 establish a new special registration plate in G.S. 20-79.3A and the expiration of special
30 registration plate authorization in G.S. 20-79.8.
31 SECTION 5. This act is effective when it becomes law.
