Short Title: Organ & Tissue Donation/Heart Heroes. (Public)

2 AN ACT AMENDING THE REVISED UNIFORM ANATOMICAL GIFT ACT TO INCLUDE
3 TISSUE DONATION AS PART OF THE DRIVERS LICENSE DONOR
4 AUTHORIZATION.
5 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
6 SECTION 1. G.S. 130A-412.7(a) reads as rewritten:
7 "(a) A donor may make an anatomical gift by any of the following methods:
8 (1) By authorizing that a statement or symbol be imprinted on the donor's drivers
9 license or identification card indicating that the donor has made an anatomical
10 gift. Anatomical gifts made by this method shall not include a donation of
11 tissue or the donor's body.
12 (2) In a will.
13 (3) During a terminal illness or injury of the donor, by any form of
14 communication addressed to at least two adults, at least one of whom is a
15 disinterested witness.
16 (4) As provided in subsection (b) of this section."
17 SECTION 2. This act becomes effective October 1, 2019.
