4 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: β€œAN ACT ESTABLISHING A TEMPORARY COMMUNITY BENEFIT
5 ASSESSMENT FOR CERTAIN HOSPITALS; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE AND A
6 TERMINATION DATE.”

8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

10 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Hospital community benefit assessment. (1) A hospital shall pay to
11 the department of public health and human services a hospital community benefit assessment no later than
12 June 29 of fiscal years 2021, 2022, and 2023. All proceeds from the assessment must be deposited into the
13 general fund.
14 (2) For the purposes of this section, "hospital" means a facility licensed as a hospital pursuant to Title
15 50, chapter 5, and does not include a critical access hospital, a children's psychiatric hospital, or the Montana
16 state hospital.
17 (3) The following amounts are imposed as the annual community benefit assessment:
18 (a) for Advanced Care Hospital in Billings, $122,000;
19 (b) for Benefis Health System in Great Falls, $696,600;
20 (c) for Billings Clinic, $835,300;
21 (d) for Bozeman Health Big Sky Medical Center, $2,900;
22 (e) for Bozeman Health, $242,000;
23 (f) for Community Medical Center in Missoula, $278,000;
24 (g) for Great Falls Clinic Medical Center, $16,790;
25 (h) for Health Center Northwest, $19,100;
26 (i) for Kalispell Regional Medical Center, $420,180;
27 (j) for Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, $51,400;
28 (k) for St. James Healthcare in Butte, $139,900;

1 (l) for Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, $534,200;
2 (m) for St. Peter's Health in Helena, $345,225; and
3 (n) for St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, $647,180.

5 NEW SECTION. Section 2. Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.

7 NEW SECTION. Section 3. Termination. [This act] terminates June 30, 2023.
