7 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: β€œAN ACT REVISING PROPERTY RENTAL LAWS; AND CLARIFYING THAT
8 SECURITY DEPOSIT LAWS ARE INTEGRAL TO RESIDENTIAL DWELLING LAWS AND MOBILE HOME
9 RENTAL LAWS.”

11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

13 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Application of security deposit laws. The provisions of this chapter are
14 cohesive with the provisions of Title 70, chapter 25, and the two chapters must be read in conjunction when
15 considering, with regards to the Montana Residential Landlord and Tenant Act of 1977, the rights and duties of
16 landlords and tenants, and the availability of remedies and judicial relief to landlords and tenants.

18 NEW SECTION. Section 2. Application of security deposit laws. The provisions of this chapter are
19 cohesive with the provisions of Title 70, chapter 25, and the two chapters must be read in conjunction when
20 considering, with regards to the Montana Residential Mobile Home Lot Rental Act, the rights and duties of
21 landlords and tenants, and the availability of remedies and judicial relief to landlords and tenants.

23 NEW SECTION. Section 3. Codification instruction. (1) [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an
24 integral part of Title 70, chapter 24, part 1, and the provisions of Title 70, chapter 24, part 1, apply to [section 1].
25 (2) [Section 2] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 70, chapter 33, part 1, and the
26 provisions of Title 70, chapter 33, part 1, apply to [section 2].
