4 A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: “AN ACT PROVIDING FOR ADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE
5 REPORTING; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.”

7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

9 NEW SECTION. Section 1. Advanced metering device data reporting. (1) A utility that installs
10 advanced metering devices at end-user residences or businesses shall report the following data to the
11 commission on an annual basis:
12 (a) the number of customers with advanced metering devices by utility customer class and by net
13 metering and non-net metering customer;
14 (b) the aggregate hourly energy use of advanced metering device equipped customers;
15 (c) graphic comparison of the aggregate, average hourly load profile by month for advanced metering
16 device equipped customers and nonadvanced metering device equipped customers; and
17 (d) aggregate monthly and annual energy use of advanced metering device equipped customers, by
18 class, compared to aggregate monthly and annual energy use of nonadvanced metering device equipped
19 customers, and aggregate monthly coincident peak and noncoincident peak demand, by class, for advanced
20 metering device equipped customers compared to nonadvanced metering device equipped customers.
21 (2) The report must also include a list of services and benefits that the advanced metering devices
22 provide the utility and customers. If a subset of customers receives services or benefits, the number of
23 customers, by class, receiving each service or benefit must be provided.
24 (3) Reporting must begin within a year of when 5% of the residential customer class has advanced
25 metering devices installed.
26 (4) All data collected under this part is subject to the provisions of 69-4-1002.

28 NEW SECTION. Section 2. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an

1 integral part of Title 69, chapter 4, part 10, and the provisions of Title 69, chapter 4, part 10, apply to [section 1].
