This bill specifies that upon receiving notice of intent to excavate, the One Call notification center must send all information to the Department of Natural Resources to determine and notify the excavator of whether the excavation location is within certain hazardous waste sites. If the excavation location is within a hazardous waste site specified in the bill, the Department must notify all persons responsible for hazardous waste at the site and require a test of the soil at the excavation location to ensure the safety of those working at the site. If the excavation location is in a site currently under investigation or on the Department's registry of abandoned sites, the Department must test the soil to ensure worker safety.
This bill is the same as HB 1140 (2023).
