HB 1675 -- COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSES FOR INCARCERATED PERSONS

This bill requires the Department of Corrections to establish and operate at its correctional centers a dump truck driver training program to help offenders get a commercial driving license for employment upon discharge. The Department must coordinate with the Missouri Dump Truckers Association to develop a proper curriculum. Donations of safe and capable equipment will be accepted. The Department of Transportation must give the Department of Corrections the right of first refusal of any of its surplus equipment. The Department of Corrections must work in conjunction with the Association to establish a method of marketing newly trained commercial driver's license holders to the dump truck industry upon the offender's discharge. The first training program will be located at the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green.
