COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Transportation by a vote of 14 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules- Legislative Oversight by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill designates the bridge on State Highway 21 crossing over the Current River in Ripley County as the "Veterans Memorial Bridge". The Department of Transportation will erect and maintain the signs, with the costs paid by private donations.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this will be a fitting tribute to all veterans.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Atchison.

OPPONENTS: Those who oppose the bill say that veterans already are well-rewarded and recognized throughout this state.
