The following is a summary of the House Committee Substitute for HB 1239.

Currently, no more than four commissioners of the Missouri State Fair Commission can be of the same political party and must meet certain other qualifications. This bill repeals these requirements and also allows for up to three members from the Congressional district in which the fairgrounds are located.

The following is a summary of the public testimony from the committee hearing. The testimony was based on the introduced version of the bill.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that it is hard to find people to serve on voluntary boards and commissions. By removing some of the requirements, it will make it easier to find people to serve on the commission who care about the future of the State Fair.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Black. Additional testimony was submitted in support of the bill.

OPPONENTS: Written testimony was submitted in opposition to the bill
