COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Special Committee on Homeland Security by a vote of 8 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules- Administrative Oversight by a vote of 10 to 0 with 2 voting present.

This resolution designates November 7th as "Victims of Communism Memorial Day".

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this resolution is significant to many, but most significantly the Chinese who have sought asylum here due to the persecution they experienced in their home country which they may never be able to see again due to the danger they would face in returning.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Chipman; Arnie Dienoff; and Kim McGrath.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
