COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Special Committee on Tourism by a vote of 8 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules- Legislative Oversight by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill designates November 30th of each year as "Mark Twain Day" to commemorate the life and accomplishments of Mark Twain.

This bill is the same as HB 1769 (2020).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill recognizes Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain, an author of many american classic novels, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huck Finn. Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which he later used as the setting for several books.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Riggs. There was additional written testimony submitted in support of the bill.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
