HB 815 -- ELECTIONS

This bill changes election laws. In its main provisions the bill:

(1) Authorizes any registered voter to vote by absentee ballot without stating a reason;

(2) Repeals an expired section of law involving mail-in voting; and

(3) Repeals the use of a statement of personal identity subject to a penalty of perjury for voting without possessing identification.

A process for using provisional ballots and verifying personal identity to an election authority is provided in the bill. Certain provisions involving notice of personal identification requirements and reimbursement from general revenue for costs for materials related to voter identification are also repealed.

This bill is the same as SB 282 (2021).
