This bill requires the State Highway Patrol to investigate any incident between a law enforcement officer and a civilian that involves a shooting of a civilian by a law enforcement officer, or a shooting of a law enforcement officer by a civilian, and any incident between a law enforcement officer and a civilian that involves use of force by the law enforcement officer or civilian that results in serious bodily injury or death.
The State Highway Patrol will be reimbursed by the local law enforcement agency for any expenses incurred as a result of the investigation.
This bill is the same as HB 2041 (2016).
