Beginning January 1, 2022, this bill authorizes additional compensation of at least $1 per hour for certain incarcerated persons employed in the vocational enterprise program to be used for scholarships for the children of such persons. The Department of Corrections will coordinate with the Departments of Workforce Development and Higher Education to distribute scholarship funds residing in the "Vocational Enterprises Higher Education Scholarship Fund".
