HB 666 -- SENIOR CITIZENS' SERVICES FUND

SPONSOR: Baringer

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Local Government by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill allows the Board of Directors of the Senior Citizens' Services Fund located in a city not within a county to solicit, accept, and expend grants from private or public entities and enter into agreements to effectuate such grants so long as the transaction is in the best interest of the programs provided by the board and the proceeds are used exclusively to fund such programs.

This bill is the same as HB 1560 (2020) and HB 1054 (2019).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill allows the Board of Directors to apply for grants. This bill also ensures that the money can only be used for senior services and can't be diverted for other purposes.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Baringer; and Arnie C. Dienoff.
