COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Agriculture Policy by a vote of 15 to 0.

This bill extends the expiration on the program that allows SNAP recipients to utilize local farmers' markets to August 28, 2033.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill would extend the sunset on a successful program. Currently, 53 farmers' markets are participating in the program and helping SNAP recipients gain access to fresh local products from Missouri farmers.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Mackey; Operation Food Search; Missouri State Alliance Of YMCAs; Kansas City Healthy Kids; Health Forward Foundation; and Missouri Cattlemen's Association. Additional written testimony was submitted in support of the bill.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
