The following is a summary of the House Committee Substitute for HB 549.
This bill modifies provisions relating to the parole board by updating board and division titles. Certain crimes are referred to as offenses and an outdated Section, 217.660, RSMo, is repealed from law.
The Chairperson of the Parole Board is renamed the "Chair" and granted authority to employ additional employees to carry out his or her responsibilities.
This bill is similar to HB 2170 (2020).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the separation of the Board of Probation and Parole's functions and the Department of Corrections. It is a technical fix to 42 different sections of law in accordance with prior legislation.
