Under current federal and state law, a person who is an inmate of a public institution cannot receive MO HealthNet benefits. This bill states that the Department of Social Services must seek a waiver from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in order to provide MO HealthNet coverage for inmates. If the waiver is approved, then inmates can receive coverage.
