COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass by Consent" by the Standing Committee on Emerging Issues by a vote of 14 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Consent and House Procedure by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill designates May 1 of each year as "Walthall Moore Day" and encourages citizens to honor the life and work of the first African American to serve in the Missouri General Assembly.

This bill is the same as HB 1939 (2020).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that Missouri should honor its first African American legislator. Walthall Moore was not recognized in his lifetime, but this memorial allows the state to honor someone who paved the way for others.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Windham; and Arnie C. Dienoff.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
