COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rural Community Development by a vote of 13 to 0.

This bill extends the tax credit for Missouri wood energy producers from June 30, 2020 to June 30, 2027.

This bill is the same as HB 2274 (2020).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is economically and environmentally beneficial to the state. The tax credit has helped fund the cleanup of scrap and saw dust piles from saw mills and turn the waste into a usable product.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Knight; and Missouri Forest Product Association.

OPPONENTS: Written testimony was submitted in opposition to the bill.

OTHERS: Others testifying on the bill says that the tax credit program is administered by Department's Division of Energy.

Testifying on the bill was the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
