HB 96 -- PERIOD OF DETENTION ON ARREST

This bill specifies that any person arrested and confined in any jail or other place of confinement by any peace officer, without a warrant or other process, for a criminal offense involving a dangerous felony or a deadly weapon must be discharged from custody within 48 hours of such arrest unless the person is charged with a criminal offense and is held by a warrant to answer to the offense.

This bill is the same as HB 2635 (2020).
