HJR 13 -- PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Ways and Means by a vote of 8 to 0. Voted "Do Pass" by the Standing Committee on Rules- Administrative Oversight by a vote of 12 to 1.

Upon voter approval, this proposed Constitutional amendment provides that the amount by which the assessed values of residential real property may increase over the assessed value of such property from the previous assessment may be limited by law.

This bill is the same as HJR 85 (2020).

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this resolution is necessary in order to limit increases in assessed values on residential real property. Without this amendment, HB 248 (2021) would not be able to go into effect.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Coleman and Arnie Dienoff.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
